Hitchcock Nature Center Trail Closures

For visitor safety and to better accommodate pre-approved hunters during the late Muzzleloader season, we will be temporarily closing certain trails and portions of trails at Hitchcock Nature Center. Please see below for details:

Trails that will be closed from Saturday, January 7th through Tuesday, January 10th include:

• Badger Ridge Connection
• Ironwood
• Hidden Valley
• Highlands Trail
• Westridge
• Wildwoods

Visitors are advised to obey "Trail Closed" signs at all times in the park.

Please note: While Hitchcock Nature Center has maintained active deer hunting for approved hunters only since the park opened in 1991, hunting is NOT allowed at other Pottawattamie Conservation parks. Hunting is allowed at these Pottawattamie Conservation Habitat Areas: Crescent Wildlife Area, Wheeler Grove Conservation Area, and Farm Creek Public Wildlife Area. In the fall those interested in hunting at Hitchcock must register, attend mandatory training, and then may be approved to hunt in the park.
