Students entering 7th through 9th grade are invited to explore nature & develop new skills during Into the Wild at Arrowhead Park & Botna Bend Park July 6th through 8th. This outdoor adventure program is designed to help students develop valuable outdoor skills & put them to the test on a guided canoe trip & overnight stay.
Students will spend July 6th at Arrowhead Park in Neola, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. where they will brush up on their canoeing & water safety skills. On July 7th students will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Eddington Memorial Park in Avoca, IA (location subject to change) where we will shove off on a canoe trip down the West Nishnabotna River Water Trail to Botna Bend Park in Hancock. Once we arrive at Botna Bend Park students will unpack gear, set up camp, cook over a campfire, & spend a night under the stars. Student pickup time will be 11:00 a.m. on July 8th at Botna Bend Park in Hancock.
Into The Wild is an outdoor adventure program designed for unaccompanied students entering grades 7, 8 & 9 (age 12 to 14). Cost is $100.00 per camper & includes park admission, all instruction, canoe & life jacket use, tent, outdoor gear, & two meals.
Students will need to provide a sack lunch for their first & second days. Students will also need to provide their own sleeping bag & pillow for the overnight stay & bring a change of clothes & toiletries. We also request a refillable water bottle, sunblock & insect repellent. Also recommended are a hat, sunglasses, long pants, & closed-toe shoes.

About 2021 Summer Nature Camps
Join us for a summer of fun during Pottawattamie Conservation's 2021 Summer Nature Camps! Camps are offered for youth Pre-K through 9th Grade with a focus on fostering an understanding & appreciation of Iowa's unique environment. Campers will experience traditional summer camp games, outdoor adventures, & skill-building activities during these immersive, hands-on camps.

*Camps with less than 10 registered campers may be canceled at the discretion of Pottawattamie Conservation. Camps canceled by Pottawattamie Conservation will be refunded 100%.
